Having the ability to control who has access to your building, neighborhood and facilities is critical in order to provide the end users a safe living space and sense of security in their home.”

The highlight of this year’s IBS was the emphasis on single-family homes built for rent (SFR) that come pre-equipped with the latest in smart home technology. This trend reflects a significant shift towards homes that offer not only the comfort and privacy associated with single-family living but also the convenience and connectivity of modern technology.
Guillermo Rivas, a Cox Communications executive, shared, “A significant insight from IBS 2024 is the clear consumer demand for homes that marry traditional comfort with modern convenience. The data speaks volumes about this shift: a staggering 91% increase in single-family BTR starts in the second quarter of 2022 compared to the previous year, as per the National Association of Home Builders. This is complemented by the consumer demand for smart homes, with 82% of renters desiring at least one smart device in their living spaces. Addressing a common barrier for EV owners, Siemens is set to launch a product that circumvents the need for expensive panel upgrades, enabling homeowners to utilize their existing panels while avoiding substantial material and labor costs. “For those looking to buy EV chargers without the space in their panel, our upcoming product will allow the use of existing panels, dodging $5,000 to $20,000 in unnecessary expenses,” explained Curtis. Furthermore, the introduction of a Smart Breaker compatible with existing Siemens equipment showcases the company’s commitment to innovation in home energy management.
