A cottage is rarely just a building. It is a shoreline, a view, a lifestyle, and choosing one can feel less like a purchase than a decision about how to live. Christopher Blair approaches that decision from a different angle. He doesn’t just open the door to a listing. Alongside his brother, Taylor, he takes buyers out onto the water, shows them the lakes and the lifestyle, and teaches them what makes each property unlike the next, because he understands that local knowledge is key to an educated decision.
Muskoka is where Christopher’s story begins. He was born and raised there, in a family of 7th-generation Lake Joe cottagers. He and his brother sell only Muskoka real estate, and in recent years, the two have taken over their father’s business of 40 years.
Milestones Since Taking Over
Since the brothers took over from their father, Christopher says, “We have approached the market with our youthful energy, lighting a new fire under a trusted and proven business built by our father.” He adds that the two have just passed over $800M in sales volume since taking over the business. And are constantly pushing themselves to raise the bar. They have been the #1 Team at their brokerage for the past two years.
Christopher was the #1 agent at Chestnut Park Muskoka in 2024 and 2025, and Taylor the #2 agent in 2025. They are “gunning for a third year in a row,” he says, and will know those results by the end of the year. The brothers are also developing new client tools, still in the early stages, which he says will “level up” the client relationship and how they track data, sales, and communication.
Opening Doors Before the Market
Ask Christopher what the brothers bring to the table, and access comes first. They are off-market specialists, he explains, with advantages he names as “living on the lake, having a 40-year client list, and being well connected.” He says that position lets them get buyers into cottages that nobody else has access to. He also credits a great network of key local agents; “those relationships allow us access before things go to MLS,” he says.
Energy is another advantage. Christopher describes the brothers as young and full of energy, working all day, every day, all summer, “chasing every lead” and learning everything about the current offerings. In his words, they are “ready to show a property at the drop of a hat.”
The brothers’ marketing, meanwhile, is “all done in-house,” and Christopher says the brothers have some of if not the highest engagement in Muskoka, with millions of organic views that have converted into multiple leads and sales. That reach, he adds, gives them “a leg up” when it comes to getting listings. Access, energy, and marketing make up three of the four things he says the brothers bring to the table. The other happens on the water.
Learning the Lake From the Water

The remaining advantage is the way the brothers show properties: by boat. Christopher calls it “the only way to view properties in Muskoka,” and notes that “very few agents do this.” From the water, he says, buyers get “a proper feel for the lakes, the lifestyle,” and the brothers see every property as they drive by.
The boat also serves a second purpose. By Christopher’s account, it “builds up the educational foundation” and helps the brothers teach buyers what makes one property unique compared with the next. In a specialized market like Muskoka, he explains, the key obstacles to avoid come down to education, which he describes as “learning about not just the local bylaws and zoning, but how key factors about a property impact the use and lifestyle.”
Those factors, he says, include topography, views, shoreline, trees, rocks, water depth, privacy, sun exposure, and access, among others. “All things that vary, no foot of shoreline is the same in Muskoka,” Christopher observes, “and having local knowledge on all of this is key to making an educated decision.” The boat, in that sense, is both a way of getting around the lake and a way of teaching it.
Brothers at Work and at Play
Beyond the business, the brothers share a set of passions. Christopher says they love wooden boats, planes, water skiing and foiling. It is a partnership he sums up in one sentence: “As brothers we do everything together.”
For Christopher Blair, Muskoka real estate has never been only about the property. It’s about the lakes, the lifestyle, and the local knowledge that makes an educated decision possible, and about doing it all alongside his brother, Taylor.
