The Super Bowl halftime show this year was one of the best in recent memory. Jennifer Lopez and Shakira took on the stage in the Superbowl LIV Halftime Show in Miami sponsored by Pepsi. The game was Chiefs vs. 49ers, but the real magic happened at halftime.

The two women are the first Latin headliners to perform at the Superbowl. They fully embraced their Latin heritage, and both women performed bilingual songs.

The show started with Shakira performing her classic hits including ‘She Wolf‘, ‘Whenever, Wherever‘ and ‘Hips Don’t Lie‘.

J. Lo then came out and sang her classic tune ‘Jenny From the Block‘, ‘Get Right‘, ‘Waiting for Tonight‘, ‘Love Don’t Cost a Thing‘, and ‘On The Floor‘. And boy did she show everyone how to light up the stage, bringing everyone back to her block.

Both women took the stage together for a grand finale performing Shakira’s hit, ‘Waka Waka‘.

Make Way For a Younger Generation of Female Empowerment

But, Shakira and J. Lo weren’t the only artists to take the stage. The two were accompanied by special guests Bad Bunny and J. Balvin. Lopez’s 11-year-old daughter, Emme also joined her on stage as a symbol of the American Dream.

The spectacle was fantastic. The costumes were striking and sparkling with skin-tight jumpsuits as far as the eye could see. The internet was left wondering what these women do to stay looking so incredibly good.

Lady Gaga warned before the show that she better hear no lip-syncing. No worries there. Everyone seemed to be authentically singing, and singing really well.

Despite rumored tension, these two ladies were on the same page hours before they were set to perform, and it showed on stage.

Shakira and J. Lo’s performance had the whole Superbowl party dancing. It was an entertaining show, and moreover it was an empowering show of Latina girl power. Towards the end of the show, a birds-eye view showed the stage lit up with the female symbol, in a gorgeous display of feminine energy in a traditionally masculine arena.

Superbowl halftime shows can be a little lackluster, but this one was seriously fantastic.
