A REVIEW
Makeup A Murder was developed by makeup artist Theresa Spencer on October 11, 2018. When developing the brand, she was influenced by cosmetics, crime investigator and forensic science. It is a small distinct makeup collection with unusual product names. Between the brand, the owner and over 45,000 Instagram followers are aware with the brand’s take on makeup including refences to gore.
Makeup a Murder specially appeals to fans of all things spooky. Many cosmetic brands are inspired by flowers and desserts, but with Makeup A Murder their products stands apart from others with shade names such as Ricin & Radioactive Waste. The brand’s makeup brushes are in a set called “Criminology Forensic Brush Kit”. And one of the palette’s is named “Case File” and filled with boldly pigmented shimmer and matte shades.
Now, just because this makeup is murder-themed doesn’t mean the looks have to be gory (though the brand’s site is filled with photos of Spencer done up to look like a zombie). There’s nothing inherently murder-y about the products other than the packaging, names, and the brand’s Instagram page being filled with bright, not-at-all-macabre makeup looks.
Whether or not you want to use the products for super-colorful makeup looks right away or hold onto them until Halloween, you can get them for anywhere from $3 to $29. The colorful makeup is highly pigmented and lasts for a long time.
