Kendall Jenner has agreed to pay $90,000 to settle a lawsuit involving her connection to the famous fiasco that was Fyre Festival.

The year was 2017. Ja Rule and Billy McFarland put together a luxury music festival on the beautiful island of Great Exuma. A whole bunch of influencers, models, and celebrities, including Jenner, promoted the festival on Instagram. They made it look like a paradise populated with scantily clad women and amazing musical acts.

Unfortunately for all those who bought tickets to Fyre Festival, the influencer promotion did not quite measure up to the actual event. McFarland did not actually have a festival set up when attendees arrived.

Instead of the promised luxury, ticketholders landed on Great Exuma and found an under-construction site with disaster style tents and total chaos. It was a complete fiasco that sparked widespread outrage. Two documentary films exist about what a mess the whole thing was.

The mastermind behind the mess, McFarland, pleaded guilty to mail and wire fraud charges in 2018. He is currently serving a six-year sentence in federal prison.

Jenner is also in trouble for her role in promoting the festival. The lawsuit alleges that she was paid $275,000 to promote Fyre Festival on social media. It also alleges that she failed to disclose to her followers that her posts were sponsored advertisements. Jenner also allegedly intentionally led potential ticket buyers to believe that her brother-in-law, Kanye West, would be performing at the festival.

The supermodel is not the only one facing lawsuits in connection to the Fyre Festival. McFarland is still facing a $100 million lawsuit. That’s in addition to the $25 million fine that was part of his conviction. Migos, Blink-182, and Emily Ratajkowski are also facing lawsuits for their roles in promoting the failed festival.
