HSIA Changing the Conversation Around Lingerie

For decades, padded push-up bras, lace-lined bodysuits and slim Victoria’s Secret models have shaped public perceptions of what “sexy” looks like. But a growing number of lingerie brands like HSIA are responding to discontent from consumers who want to see themselves better represented. From offering a wider range of cup sizes to celebrating diversity in campaigns and on runways, HSIA is selling more than bras but selling inclusivity, too.

The shift comes as the global lingerie market continues to expand.  The Global Lingerie Market is anticipated to grow to US$ 155.57 billion by 2033, up from US$ 92.63 billion in 2024, at a compound annual growth rate of 5.93% from 2025 to 2033. This is fueled by increasing fashion awareness, growing disposable incomes, and a trend toward accessible, comfort-driven innerwear, particularly among younger generations and growing urban female populations in developing economies.

Consumer preferences have evolved alongside the market. While heavily padded push-up bras once dominated department store shelves, today’s shoppers are gravitating toward lightweight support, wireless comfort, breathable fabrics, and size-specific engineering. Social media has also accelerated the movement away from narrowly defined beauty standards, encouraging brands to design for a broader spectrum of body shapes instead of treating extended sizes as an afterthought.

HSIA positions itself within this underserved segment by designing specifically for fuller-bust women rather than adapting styles originally intended for smaller cup sizes. The brand’s collections prioritize structural support without excessive padding, combining engineered construction with contemporary aesthetics that allow consumers to wear lighter, more elegant lingerie without sacrificing everyday comfort.

And inclusivity isn’t just about selling lingerie to diverse customers—it’s about doing so visibly. This means using models of all shapes, sizes, and colors in fashion shows and campaigns. Take HSIA, for instance, which claims to portray women in a realistic way in its campaigns. The brand’s models include women with multiple different bra sizes, from C to I cups and from a variety of backgrounds.

Among HSIA’s latest innovations, its Strapless Collection addresses one of the category’s most persistent pain points. Strapless bras have historically presented a difficult engineering challenge for fuller-bust consumers, as removing shoulder straps shifts nearly all of the garment’s support to the band and cup structure. Maintaining lift without slipping, pinching, or constant adjustment has remained one of the industry’s biggest technical hurdles.

HSIA’s version leans on multi-panel construction, underwire built for stability rather than just shape, and silicone grip along wider side wings to spread the load instead of relying on compression alone. Whether it holds up under an off-the-shoulder top for a full evening, not just twenty minutes for photos, is really the only test that matters.

The evolution of lingerie is no longer simply about offering more sizes. It is about recognizing that different bodies require different engineering, different materials, and different design philosophies. As brands continue investing in inclusive development rather than standardized sizing, the industry’s definition of luxury is gradually shifting—from exclusivity to thoughtful functionality.

For companies like HSIA, that transformation represents more than a changing fashion trend. It signals a future in which women no longer have to compromise between support, comfort, and style, regardless of their cup size.
