Adriana Focke, known to her fans as “the global gal,” is a Portland-based real estate broker who has turned her passion for property into a worldwide journey. With her role as a host on American Dream TV, Adriana has embraced a unique opportunity to take real estate on an international scale, connecting viewers with diverse cultures and communities across the globe.
Since stepping into her TV role, she has travelled to Brazil, Colombia, France, Portugal, and Japan, filming for American Dream Global Edition. Here, Adriana shares her journey, challenges, and future aspirations with Jessica Stagg.
The Leap from Real Estate to Television
Transitioning from real estate to television came as a surprise for Adriana. “The American Dream was expanding their show nationwide and they came to Portland. They invited me to audition,” she recalls. Initially hesitant, she wasn’t sure she was the “TV personality type,” but her curiosity led her to try it out. Adriana went to her audition with a plan, arriving early to connect with the producer and make the best impression she could. To her surprise, her presence on camera felt natural, and she quickly realized the potential to introduce her passion for real estate to a larger audience across the U.S.
This new platform allowed Adriana to share insights and connect with people in a way that she hadn’t anticipated. “Bringing real estate to people all over the U.S. felt exciting, and the energy surrounding this opportunity was amazing.” Her journey from broker to host turned into a passion, and she began to see it as a way to elevate her brand, bringing together her love for real estate with her desire to connect on a personal level.
Overcoming Hurdles
One of Adriana’s initial hurdles was getting comfortable in front of the camera. While she anticipated it would be difficult, she found herself adapting more quickly than expected. “The biggest hurdle was first getting comfortable on camera, but it went faster and better than I anticipated,” she says, surprised by how naturally she fell into the role.
A significant challenge, however, came in the realm of social media. Before her debut on American Dream TV, Adriana’s social media presence was more of a reflection of her brand as a real estate professional rather than her personal journey. “I had to revamp everything and get back into engaging and creating content,” she notes. This shift required her to rethink how she presented herself and to focus more on connecting with her audience on a personal level. Despite the difficulties, Adriana embraced the challenge, and her dedication has started to pay off. Her recent article in The Grit Apple News served as a key moment in gaining visibility, even being shared by the CEO of American Dream TV, a gesture that bolstered her confidence and reach.
Stepping Stones and Milestones
Adriana’s decision to take her show global marked a major turning point in her career. Going international wasn’t only about expanding her brand but also about fostering excitement among her viewers and connecting with a diverse audience. “Taking the show globally really created a lot of excitement around my personal brand,” she explains. The exposure opened up new networks and introduced her to viewers worldwide.
One of her proudest moments was filming a dance video to “Voyage Voyage” by Desireless, one of France’s greatest hits. “We actually reached out to her, and she endorsed the video, saying she enjoyed it a lot,” Adriana recounts. The endorsement felt incredibly rewarding, allowing her to engage with international audiences in a fun and creative way. Her posts on social media began to gain traction, and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive, validating her global approach and encouraging her to continue down this path.
Childhood Inspirations and Global Aspirations
Adriana’s global perspective is deeply rooted in her childhood experiences. Growing up in a multicultural family, she moved from the U.S. to Brazil at age four and attended an international school. “My whole inspiration for going global has a lot to do with my childhood,” she explains. This early exposure to diverse cultures left a lasting impact on her, shaping her worldview and fueling her desire to connect with others across borders. By bringing her authentic self into her work and exploring these global connections, she hopes to better serve her clients while staying true to her roots.
Through her journey from a local real estate broker to an international TV host, Adriana Focke has transformed her career, tapping into her passion for cultural exchange and real estate. Her path reflects the power of taking risks and stepping outside one’s comfort zone, inspiring those around her to follow their dreams, wherever they may lead. As Adriana’s story unfolds, her “global gal” journey serves as a reminder that the American Dream is as limitless as the world itself.
